reside amongst the trees

all of the trees
begin to sway
benieth the empty sky
amongst the willows
i lay next to what should be you
and i lift my head to
see the horizon

through the trees

i see only the light of your eyes

beaming.

you breathe, i sigh

with no pause
i take you in my arms

and we lay

holding on to one another

i fold into you

maternally you stroke my hair from my eyes

you fill me with

something more
than i have ever felt

and we reside here

amongst the trees

and we listen,

and we listen.

meet me, somewhere. anywhere. just not here.

And you can find me
collapsed to my knees
with my hands pressed together

eyes closed
under the whetted sky
in the fields where the sun dries
water from the lilies
lilac between my hands

the bristles sticking to my clothes
i am removed
just for a moment.

i pause when the wind subsides
and look about the open land
where my mother was raised
and i sweat the fear of his wrath

under no influence
clearly i see you
with your arms stretched out

you lay your hands on mine
and we kneel
together

and we pray.

that the sun will go away.

and we

wait.

Dazed Days

Tripping on the words I painted for you
drying on the concrete
But these oil based colors are simple minded sentences
that are easier to swallow than to stomach

Resent
The way you look so cute when we're pressed up against one another
how you back out of every
alley of confidence I am powerless over you
no matter what tune our blood synchronizes to

Forgive me now for I underestimated your clairvoyance
clarity for a calm
measured by the approximation of possible outcomes
but you proclaim certainty
with a bottle up to your lips
you blow against the glass
and my ears catch the crescendo of your creation

but I am lost amongst the siren's song
a ship, derelict in the rocks
Wading through high tides to
crumble at your feet.

And every night
With my ear against the window pane
I listen for your call
with optimistic attention
as I fall asleep
to your silence.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
